QTP Tool was derived from Astra Quicktest and influenced by WinRunner and it follows advanced keyword driven approach.

QTP is a famous testing tool for Functional & Regression Testing and It was launched in 2002 by Mercury Interactive. Later It was takeover by HP (in 2007).

QTP Tool supports windows operating environment only and It doesn't support UNIX or UNIX flavors like Linux, Solaris etc...

QTP Supports almost all Industry leading technologies, It Supports .NET, Java, People soft, Main Frames, Web, Web Services, Oracle, SAP and Delphi like technologies based projects.

QTP is a Object oriented test tool where as LoadRunner Protocol based test tool.

QTP supports multiple languages like English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Germany etc...

QTP Tool doesn't support Command line applications, Only GUI and Web.

QTP is a flexible and adaptable tool.

QTP has rich IDE (Test Pane, Active screen, Function definition generator, Data table, Step generator and SQL Engine)

VB Script, SQL engines embedded with QTP Tool, so that we can use these from QTP.

Learning and applying of qtp features is an easy process.

Some QTP features like Virtual Object wizard, Smart Identification, Ordinal Identifier and Recovery Scenarios are useful and advanced.

HP Company also providing good maintenance support for customers through inter Net as well as by service engineers.

QTP still has some drawbacks since its inception, those are: Batch wise results are not possible and inability to Identify some web objects
